What is AAUP?
AAUP is an advocacy organization for faculty from all ranks and status. It promotes faculty participation in governance and academic freedom and defends tenure and due process.
What is AAUP @ Seton Hall?
By building a collective voice on behalf of faculty, the Seton Hall Chapter of AAUP seeks to promote faculty participation in decision-making and advocate on behalf of faculty across the University. We are well on our way to building this collective voice —our membership has quadrupled in the last year—but we need your help!

Frequently Asked Questions...
Is the membership list public?
No. Our membership list is private and stored in a private account. There are plenty of roles you can take in our chapter that are low-visibility.
How often do you meet?
About once a month or three times a semester, depending on needs and issues.
Where and how do you meet?
We meet via a Zoom link, sent to members only.
We already have a faculty Senate, why do we need AAUP?
The AAUP chapter is an independent organization that advocates for faculty. The Senate is the center of faculty self-governance and shared governance. The AAUP chapter is an advocate which can fortify the Senate and address faculty professional concerns beyond the Senate’s jurisdiction, especially when the administration chooses not to heed the Senate.
